WHAT IS PRP?
PRP is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytokines that can stimulate healing of bone and soft tissue.
HOW DOES PRP WORK?
Blood must first be drawn from a patient. The platelets are separated from other blood cells and their concentration is increased during a process called centrifugation. Then the increased concentration of platelets is combined with the remaining blood.
CLINICAL APPLICATIONS IN DENTISTRY
Platelet Rich Plasma has become a valuable adjunct in wound healing in dentistry. Postsurgically, blood clots initiate the healing and regeneration of hard and soft tissues.
BENEFITS OF PRP:
Enhance the rate of bone formation.
Increase bone density surrounding implants.
Promote bonding of bone grafts to patients own bone.
Faster healing of incision sites.
Reduced risk of infections.
